The Meeting is about two twenty-somethings Dana and Cally, who were at school together but haven’t seen each other since, by coincidence they meet again in the middle of the countryside, where they grew-up, whilst out walking.
Dana, a curvaceous brunette, is a sensible and quiet journalist who is far too ambitious for her own good. She works for a television news channel and is the best in her field. Her boss has suggested that it would be good for the team’s morale if she went on leave for a couple of weeks to think about how well she works as part of the team. She has decided to go back to where she grew-up because it reminds her of a time of when she felt needed.
Cally on the other hand, a bubbly brunette, is a very loud and erratic individual, when she was at school nobody, not even Dana, thought that she would get very far in life. Not only has she got a secure job that she enjoys but she is married to the man of her dreams. She did spend time at a temp agency but felt she should follow her heart, so trained at night school to become an archaeologist. She has done some things that she isn’t very proud of, one of which has led her back to where she grew-up because that is an area she knows like the back of her hand.
The Meeting is a thrilling journey of rediscovery and starts with Dana going on an excursion through her local woods; she isn’t walking for long before she comes across Cally. They decide to walk together because Cally has somewhere to be and Dana wants to hear all about her life. Cally’s phone rings but she cancels the call and quickens her pace thus making Dana feel a little anxious about what she has got herself into. Their walk leads them to a road and a man that knows Cally; she seems fearful of him and refuses to stop, dragging Dana into the woods. After running for a while Dana refuses to go any further until Cally has told her what is going and who that man was. Cally proceeds to explain everything and nothing but asks Dana if she could look after something for her. She then gives Dana the choice to stay with her and experience the world or go home and live the life she always wanted. Cally clearly knows which one Dana will choose.
