The Meeting - The Synopsis

The Meeting is about two twenty-somethings Dana and Cally, who were at school together but haven’t seen each other since, by coincidence they meet again in the middle of the countryside, where they grew-up, whilst out walking.
Dana, a curvaceous brunette, is a sensible and quiet journalist who is far too ambitious for her own good. She works for a television news channel and is the best in her field. Her boss has suggested that it would be good for the team’s morale if she went on leave for a couple of weeks to think about how well she works as part of the team. She has decided to go back to where she grew-up because it reminds her of a time of when she felt needed.
Cally on the other hand, a bubbly brunette, is a very loud and erratic individual, when she was at school nobody, not even Dana, thought that she would get very far in life. Not only has she got a secure job that she enjoys but she is married to the man of her dreams. She did spend time at a temp agency but felt she should follow her heart, so trained at night school to become an archaeologist. She has done some things that she isn’t very proud of, one of which has led her back to where she grew-up because that is an area she knows like the back of her hand.
The Meeting is a thrilling journey of rediscovery and starts with Dana going on an excursion through her local woods; she isn’t walking for long before she comes across Cally. They decide to walk together because Cally has somewhere to be and Dana wants to hear all about her life. Cally’s phone rings but she cancels the call and quickens her pace thus making Dana feel a little anxious about what she has got herself into. Their walk leads them to a road and a man that knows Cally; she seems fearful of him and refuses to stop, dragging Dana into the woods. After running for a while Dana refuses to go any further until Cally has told her what is going and who that man was. Cally proceeds to explain everything and nothing but asks Dana if she could look after something for her. She then gives Dana the choice to stay with her and experience the world or go home and live the life she always wanted. Cally clearly knows which one Dana will choose.

The Meeting - The Pitch

This seemed a liitle easier than i thought it would be but knowing me this is absolute rubbish...

A beautiful country walk turns into a thrilling escapade when two women are drawn together, one looking for her future, the other running from her past.

"The Meeting" character profiles

Dana: She will hopefully be the protagonist of my script.
She is sensible, has a boyfriend, she is pretty and quiet but friendly. She is a journalist for a television news production, soon to become anchorwoman. She is taking a little break because no other journalist has a chance with a story if she is around, ie. she is ambitious!

Cally: The main character.
She is erratic and loud, she is married but everyone thought she wasn't going to get very far in life. She was a temp but trained at night school to become an archeologist. Not a well paid job but she loves it anyway.

The Meeting

I think i have finally settled on an idea i know something about and i can easily embellish! Country walks- something i have always done with my family but when we are out walking i imagine things that could happen. Some people may say that i'm sad but i think i just have very active imagination!

Spaced Synopsis

My god this was difficult but hay-ho here we go...

Spaced is a fast-paced comedy about two twenty-somethings, Tim and Daisy and their misfit friends. Tim is an aspiring comic book artist who has just been dumped and therefore has to move out of his now ex-girlfriend’s house, he soon finds solace in Daisy, a quirky and highly-emotional squatter who wishes to be a journalist but has yet to find the means and motivation to do it. They decide to move into a flat together but first they have to convince the landlady Marsha (an emotionally scarred, self-obsessed alcoholic) that they are an item even though they have only just met. This pretence leads them into many difficult yet funny situations which they are able to escape with the use of Tim’s child-like manner and Daisy’s self deluded behaviour.
It is full of pop culture references and dry humour that is not only supplied by Tim and Daisy but by Brian, an off-the-wall anguished artist who lives in the flat below them, Mike, Tim’s best friend who is a G.I. Joe wannabe and whose idiotic and random ways makes him one very unlucky individual, and Twist, Brian’s girlfriend who is clumsy, ditzy and most of the time in a world of her own... spaced out.
Spaced is set in urban northwest London and based mainly around Tim and Daisy’s flat. The interior of the flat is quite shabby and cluttered with little personal space, portraying how unfortunate Tim and Daisy are, with this and the use of contemporary music the audience can find it easy to relate to the characters.
Each episode has a separate story but sometimes these stories are non-linear thus keeping the audience on their toes and interested, waiting to see the outcome of our characters’ actions or discovering how they got into the difficult situation in the first placed.

Spaced Pitch

Oh my god - I have never done a blog before so i hope i do okay.
Yesterday we watched the legendary Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in Spaced, (very funny especially when i know someone who is very similar to Daisy). We were then asked to create our own pitch for Spaced which is a little harder than it sounds, try 25 words harder than it sounds but this was my attempt...
"A sit-com about a group of quirky characters living with and around each other, experiencing an abstract world of love and life."
